Sarfaraz Ahmed is satisfied with Pakistan’s performance; says, ‘I can take this team to next level’
Pakistan cricket team finished fifth in the points table of the on-going World Cup tournament and was unable to qualify for the semi-finals.
In a press conference, the Pakistani skipper revealed that the team is not ashamed of anything and was close to make it to the semi-finals. Sarfaraz admitted that even though the team had a tough time in the first five matches of the tournament especially after the defeat to India but the Skipper is proud of the way their team performed in the last four matches.
When asked about his plan on giving up the captaincy of the Pakistan team, the Skipper said that it’s on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to decide on who will be the Captain. “But personally, since you asked me, I know these players very well now. Most of them are young and if we learn from our mistakes in the World Cup, I can take this team to the next level, especially with the World T20 coming up next year in Australia,” Sarfaraz added.
Even though the Pakistan cricket team were unable to make it to the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019 tournament, the Skipper revealed that he is satisfied with his team’s performance. He admitted that he has not thought of leaving captaincy as of now and he believes that despite the tough conditions in England, the team did respectably well. “I know if I get a chance to continue, we as a team will make more progress,” the Skipper added.
Sarfaraz also admitted that even thought the team performed their best, there were mistakes made in the tournament.
