Sachin Tendulkar wishes Ramakant Achrekar on the occasion of Guru Purnima & thanks him for being his guide
Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar expresses his gratitude to his guru for making him who he is today.
Sachin Tendulkar who is considered to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time pays tribute to his childhood coach for guiding him throughout his cricketing journey. He expressed his gratitude towards his guru, Ramakant Achrekar and said that it is the guru who removes the darkness and ignorance in the student.
He posted a picture with his childhood guru and tweeted as, “गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः । गुरुः साक्षात् परब्रम्ह तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥ Guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance in the student. Thank you Achrekar Sir for being that Guru & guide to me and making me what I am today. #GuruPurnima”
Sachin’s childhood coach, Ramakant Achrekar who trained him and Vinod Kambli in their childhood days passed away this year at the age of 87. He had been a selector for Mumbai Cricket team and had trained a lot of young cricketers under him at Shivaji Park, Dadar.
“Cricket in heaven will be enriched with the presence of Achrekar Sir. Like many of his students I learnt my ABCD of cricket under his guidance. His contribution to my life cannot be captured in words. He built the foundation I stand on,” said Sachin Tendulkar on the death of his childhood guru, Achrekar.
