Rishabh Pant states that he has become more positive after being dropped for the Cricket World Cup 2019
Rishabh Pant was initially disappointed at having missed the bus to England for the CWC 2019
Back in the Indian Cricket Team as a replacement to left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan, young wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant said that being positive despite being ignored for the World Cup 2019 initially helped him. The youngster was called in to cover for Dhawan after the latter suffered from a thumb fracture in the game against Australia.
"When I didn't get selected, I thought maybe I didn't do something right, so I became more positive and focussed on how to improve myself. Then I did well in the IPL. Then I kept practising," Pant told India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in a video posted by BCCI.
"It is one dream for all to make India win. When I came to know that I have been called to England as a back-up, my mother was with me, So I told her, she went to temple and paid her offerings."
"As a cricketer, I always wanted to play a World Cup and perform there and now that I have got this opportunity, I am feeling very happy."
Vijay Shankar, who replaced Dhawan in India's game with Pakistan is injured as well, and it remains to be seen whether the Indian management goes in with Pant for their clash with Afghanistan on Saturday.
