Rashid Khan: Will miss the Indian cricketers in the Euro T20 Slam; wish some players can take part

Except the IPL, the BCCI has strictly denied their contracted players from playing in any T20 league across the globe. Brian Lara, however, feels that this policy should change as the attention that the Indian cricketers attract would help in the growth of the game.

Afghanistan captain and leg-spinner Rashid Khan said that he would miss playing alongside the Indian cricketers in the inaugural Euro T20 Slam, and hopes that at least the former players can be a part of the event.

"Definitely will miss the Indian players. Always great to play and be with them. Playing alongside them. Hopefully, we will get some Indian players...I think it's allowed to have those players who retired from international cricket. I have enjoyed playing alongside them in the IPL," Rashid said.

The BCCI is very particular about not allowing contracted players playing in any overseas T20 leagues. The likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Jasprit Bumrah only ply their trade in the IPL, but Brian Lara, former West Indian cricketer and current Global T20 League brand ambassador (the T20 league based in Canada) hopes that this policy can change.

"I am not being critical of the BCCI or their cricketers, but the world needs to see some of the great cricketers from India playing here as well. I dunno where that stands. No hiding the fact that the Indian cricketers are the most attractive players.

"It will be great to see the players from different countries coming together and playing in these leagues. It helps the game and one of my own jobs is to get into schools and see if we can help them play the game," he explained.

Just retired Yuvraj Singh has been given the nod by the BCCI to play in the GT20 that will begin later this month.

The Euro T20 Slam, on the other hand, starts from August 30 and will end on September 22.
