Queen of KDrama Rom Coms: Celebrating Park Min Young's journey on her birthday

Happy Birthday, Park Min Young! The talented and beautiful Hallyu star turns 35 years old (36 in Korean age). Park Min Young was born in Seoul, South Korea. Known as the 'Queen of K Drama Rom-Coms', Min Young made her entertainment debut in a SK Telecom commercial in 2005. Later, she made her K drama acting debut with the sitcom High Kick in 2006. She did various smaller roles in numerous K dramas before she landed her big break towards the end of the 2000 decade with the Sungkyunkwan Scandal in 2010.

One of the biggest and most notable stars in the Korean Entertainment Industry, Park Min Young is dubbed as the 'Queen of KDrama Rom Coms,' for her incredible work in various K-Drama rom-coms that we have loved and enjoyed. Some of our favourites include What's Wrong With Secretary Kim alongside the charming Park Seo Joon and more recently, Her Private Life with the dashing, Kim Jae Wook. However, to not take away any credibility from her acting prowess and her versatility as a performer, she has dabbled in various genres like Sageuk, Action-thrillers and Comedy and excelled in all of them. Today on her birthday, we document her journey so far.

1. High Kick

In her debut drama, Min Young essayed Kang Yoo Mi, a not so smart girlfriend of Lee Min Ho, played by actor Kim Hye Seong. A lovable sitcom, it revolved around the Lee family.

2. Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Park Min Young earned her breakthrough in the entertainment industry with this coming of age drama in which her character, an intelligent and resourceful young woman named Kim Yoon Hee, disguises herself as her brother, Kim Yoon Shik, in order to enter the most prestigious learning institution in Joseon.

3. City Hunter

Min Young essayed the no-nonsense and agile, Kim Na Na, the president's bodyguard. Independent and strong-willed, she soon discovers Lee Yoon Sung's real identity and gives her all for his sake.

4. Healer

Min Young played Chae Young Shin, a strong-willed and quirky internet news reporter who dreams of becoming a legendary reporter. She suffers from panic attacks due to her abusive past and has to overcome her fear to achieve her dreams. This was Min Young's second action-thriller success post the success of City Hunter.

5. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim

Min Young portrayed the skilled secretary, Kim Mi So, who has to put up with her handsome yet narcissistic boss, Lee Young Joon. After nine years of working, she decides to put down her resignation papers to lead her own life.

6. Her Private Life

In this easy-breezy romcom, Min Young essays the role of Sung Deok Mi, a talented chief curator of Cheum Museum of Art, who leads a parallel life as a fanatic fangirl of White Ocean's Cha Shi An. One day, both her worlds collide, and now she has to balance between her real life and her secret fangirl life.

7. When The Weather Is Fine

Her most recent work, Min Young plays Mok Hae Won aka Irene, an unemployed cello teacher, who quits her quits her job in Seoul and goes back to Bookhyun Village, in Gangwon Province, where she briefly lived when she was in high school. She rediscovers her passion for life and of course, meets the love of her life.
