‘Proud to have broken the record of legend like Sachin Tendulkar’ says, Afghan’s Ikram Ali khil
Ikram Ali Khil recently broke the record of the Indian Stalwart in the match against West Indies on Thursday at Leeds.
Afghanistan’s wicket-keeper and batsman, Ikram Alikhil broke the record of the Indian stalwart Sachin Tendulkar for the highest score by an 18-year-old in the World Cup. Ikram smashed a brilliant 86 off 93 deliveries against West Indies with a strike rate of 92.47. Prior to that, Sachin Tendulkar held this record when he smashed 84 runs which came 27 years ago.
On talking about this achievement, Ikram said that he is very proud to have broken the record of a legend like Sachin Tendulkar and it makes him extremely happy. Even though, Ikram played exceptionally well against the Windies, the Afghans witnessed yet another defeat in the tournament and ended their World Cup campaign without a win.
Ikram also said that he is happy that he scored 86 runs, which was the top score for Afghanistan. However, he mentioned that he is also a bit disappointed because he thought he could score a hundred. “Hopefully in the games ahead I will score a hundred for Afghanistan,” he added.
He stated that he wants to work very hard on his game and become the best ever player produced by Afghanistan. He expressed his love towards the Sri Lankan legendary cricketer, Kumar Sangakkara and said that “Kumar Sangakkara is always in my mind and thoughts when I am batting out there.” He added that his ability to rotate the strike and find a boundary when needed makes him a World Class player and he tries to copy him as much as he can.
