After much wait, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat hit the screens today. The movie stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.

While Deepika essays the role of Rani Padmini, Shahid plays the role of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh plays the main antagonist, Alauddin Khilji in the movie.

Talking about the controversy surrounding Padmaavat, Varun had earlier said, ‘’Protesting peacefully is fine. It is a democracy and everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion and we should totally respect that. But making a (death) threat should not be allowed in a democracy. And I believe in our judiciary, I am sure they will manage it.’’

On the other hand, Sonakshi had said, ‘’Whatever is happening is not right and it shouldn’t happen. In our country, if threats are given openly, it is not a correct thing. I think strict action should be taken against it.”

On the work front, Varun Dhawan will next be seen in Shoojit Sircar's October which marks the debut of Banita Sandhu. October is slated to release on April 13, 2018.

When a leading daily asked Varun about October, he had said, "It feels amazing. We wrapped up the film in 38 days. October is more than a film to me. I don't want to say much about it, but this film has definitely impacted me so much as a human being. I think it has definitely changed me as a human being."

Speaking of Sonakshi, the actor is currently gearing up for the release of her film Welcome To New York opposite Diljit Dosanjh, Karan Johar among others.
