Sridevi Condolence Meet: Rekha, Manish Malhotra and Vidya Balan pay their last respects to the veteran actor

Sridevi passed away at the age of 54 on February 24, 2018, in Dubai. Her mortal remains arrived in Mumbai last night. Rekha, Manish Malhotra and Vidya Balan attended the veteran actor's condolence meet.

Veteran actor Sridevi's sudden and unfortunate demise left Bollywood in a state of shock. The actor was only 54 when she breathed her last on February 24, 2018. She had a fainting spell in her hotel bathroom and died due to accidental drowning, in Dubai.

Her mortal remains arrived in Mumbai last night and the funeral will take place today. Before the funeral, a condolence meeting was held for the Chandni actor in Celebration Sports Club, Lokhandwala. 

Amongst those who came for the condolence meet to pay their last respects were Rekha, Manish Malhotra, Vidya Balan and Siddharth Kapur.

Vidya considered Sridevi her idol and inspiration. In fact, in her latest film Tumhari Sulu, she recreated Sridevi’s iconic song, Hawa Hawaii. Sridevi had been extremely supportive of it, she had then said, “I’m very pleased that one of my favourite songs is filmed on one of my favourites, the adorable Vidya. I wish her all the best.”

After Sridevi’s demise, a heartbroken Vidya had posted, “My inspiration is no more”

Meanwhile, Sridevi's family released a statement today that read, "Khushi, Janhvi, Boney Kapoor and the entire Kapoor and Ayyappan families are deeply bereaved and shocked with the untimely loss of Sridevi Kapoor. Late Sridevi Kapoor passed away in Dubai, UAE, on Saturday, February 24th. We thank the film fraternity, media, fans of late Sridevi Kapoor and all the well-wishers for their prayers, support and sensitivity during our moment of immense grief. We request you to kindly join us in paying our last respect to a remarkable actor, beloved wife and loving mother."
