Sonam Kapoor is starring alongside Akshay Kumar in PadMan and will be seen playing the role of a tabla player.

The movie which also stars Radhika Apte as Akshay's wife is directed by R. Balki, produced by Twinkle Khanna's home production Mrs. Funnybones Productions and is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, the inventor of low-cost sanitary napkins for women in rural areas.

Akshay and Sonam are shooting for the final schedule of the movie in New York. The actress took to her Instagram stories to share a photo from the sets as she got ready.

What's interesting to note is that Anand Ahuja is in New York as well as evidenced by his Instagram stories.

Meanwhile, in an interview with another leading daily, when Akshay was asked about starring PadMan which delves with the topic of menstruation, the actor stated, "If you change nothing, nothing will change. It’s not about being bold, but about breaking taboos that hold us back. I have lived with women all my life, yet I have learnt more about the topic while making this film than ever before. I do not mind who I offend or whose stomach I turn by being bold, this is not the Stone Age; menstruating is natural."

When producer Twinkle was quizzed on how it was to be a producer to an Akshay Kumar film, she replied, "Initially, I thought of making a small movie, but then Akshay and Balki (director) were both excited about the concept. PadMan is my first production, so I can’t comment on what it’s like to be the producer of an Akshay Kumar-starrer, except that in this movie, the things I normally nag him about, like working too much, turned out to be an asset."

PadMan is slated to release on January 26, 2018.
