Is SLB pulling a Rowdy Rathore with Ram Leela?
We have had a small peek into the world of Ramleela with its trailer and the first song Tattad Tattad. However, it is noticeable that it misses some of the iconic elements that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is famous for. It seems SLB has changed his style to cater to the masses as opposed to the classes. Perhaps that is the learning from his recent blockbuster 'Rowdy Rathore'. Do you think SLB went this way as a result of his previous 'class' movies not making it to the high grosser list?
No Demure Heroines
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's heroines have had a demure and subtle air to them with a tinge of sweet-bitterness. Deepika Padukone as Leela, seems to be a different sort, playing with guns and 'golis'. Deepika's character comes across as terribly headstrong, with bold kisses and daring dialogues.
Bloodshed
While bloodshed was something that was totally missing in SLB's movies before, he seems to have taken inspiration from his masala entertainer 'Rowdy Rathore' and incorporated a handful here. The movie's tagline 'Goliyon ka Rasleela' says it all.
No Poignant Dark Scenes
While dark scenes dominated SLB's art so far, this time the colors are flying all over. Bullets zoom around like fireworks, and for the first time perhaps, Guns and bullets look ever so colorful.
Loud Romance
The transition from 'Chand Chupa Badal Main' to 'Trigger daba dungi' says it all. From the dialogues, to the visuals, the romance has changed from soft and charming to loud and daring.
