After much wait, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat, earlier titled Padmavati, is releasing on January 24, 2018, at 7 PM. The movie also stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.

While Deepika will be seen essaying the role of Rani Padmini, Shahid plays the role of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh plays the main antagonist, Alauddin Khilji in the movie.

Speaking about Padmaavat, during a recent interview, Shahid said, “Somehow, by default, in most actors’ careers – over the years – they are remembered by the love stories that they have done. They (love) break the barrier of time and audiences keep going back to them. I have been a part of a couple [of such films] and I hope my next film, Padmavati also falls into that category. It definitely has the makings of being something like that."
