On the work front, Ranveer is busy shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy which also stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role. The film is based on the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy.
For Gully Boy, he has lost a tremendous amount of weight. When we asked him about his transformation, Ranveer stated, "I like to switch things up, I like to do different things. Coming off from Mr Bhansali film to Zoya film then I have Rohit Shetty film is interesting. For me, it's very important that I keep doing different things and the audience shouldn't know what to expect. It should come with double excitement attached to what will come next. I am very keen on not doing the same thing, to not repeat the trick. I am very happy that wonderful opportunities come my way. I think it's very rich phase for me creatively. Coming off from the character like Alauddin Khilji to Gully Boy and from there to Simmba is like venturing into two opposite spectrums. To cover that, it makes me fulfiled as an artist. I am very excited about my upcoming slate."
Ranveer will also be teaming up with Rohit Shetty for the first time in Simmba.
During an EXCLUSIVE interaction with Pinkvilla, when we asked Singh about working with Rohit inSimmba, he stated, "I am so lucky to be working with Rohit Shetty, he is the king of masala films. People are looking forward to us working together and I am happy to see that kind of excitement level. These are the types of films I have grown up watching. Masala films are in my blood and I'm very excited to be working in Simmba. Better who than Rohit Shetty, the king of that genre, so I m definitely looking forward."
