Manushi Chillar made India proud when she won the coveted Miss World 2017 title. Before this, it was Priyanka Chopra who had last won the crown in 2000.

The young 20-year-old won this esteemed competition and put back India on the global map. Chillar competed against 108 contestants from various countries at a glittering event held at Sanya City Arena in China. She was crowned by Miss World 2016 winner, Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle.

Exactly after a week, the Haryana girl has returned to India. Manushi received a grand welcome at the Mumbai airport with fans from all over India coming in to greet her at the terminal. She looked gorgeous in a pink outfit and the beautiful crown that she won. Manushi was all smiles as she got clicked by the paparazzi.

Her winning shot at the competition came with her heartwarming response to a question posed by the judges. Manushi was asked which profession deserved the highest salary and why? She replied: “I think a mother is of highest respect. I don’t think its just about cash but love and respect she gives to someone. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. Mother should get highest respect.''

Talking about her heartwarming answer, Manushi told a leading daily, "Since I am very close to my mother, I believe a mother deserves the highest respect. When you talk about salary, I don’t think it’s just about cash, but it’s the love and respect you give someone. I think my mom has always been my biggest inspiration; mothers sacrifice so much for their kids. It is certainly that one profession which deserves the highest salary, the highest respect and love."

On how she felt as they announced her as the winner, Manushi revealed, "When I heard them say India, I was ecstatic. It took me a few seconds to absorb it. It’s a moment when you want to laugh and cry at the same time. This was my dream always... to hear India being announced the winner. That was the happiest moment of my life."

"The victory is slowly sinking in. I am getting a lot of congratulatory calls and messages from everyone back home. I’m overwhelmed by all the love and support that I have received," Manushi stated.
