Kangana Ranaut gets papped as she arrives at the airport
Kangana Ranaut is on a roll after the trailer of her next, Simran was so well received. She plays a Gujarati girl in the film who becomes a criminal. The trailer generated many eyeballs and all for the right reasons!
Kangana is also in the midst of filming an epic biography Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The film is being directed by National Award-winner Krish Jagarlamudi and “Baahubali” writer K Vijayendra Prasad has penned the screenplay for the movie. Kangana plays the titular role in the film that also stars Sonu Sood and Ankita Lokhande. The filming is currently going on in Hyderabad where a few weeks ago Kangana was injured during a sword-fighting sequence.
About this film, Kangana had said, “The way Vijendra sir has written it and conceived it, it’s very superhero-like. Usually, my characters are flawed and human in terms of their abilities. But this one is extraordinary.” She has been massively inspired by the Queen of Jhansi who took on the British empire with her courage. She says, “Very early in life, children learn about Jhansi ki Rani. She’s known for her fighting spirit and is cited as an example of bravery. In fact, you’re often told, ‘Jhansi ki Rani ban jaa, slap him hard!’. We all have the fighting spirit. It’s just that we don’t exercise it.”
Kangana has also claimed that, “Here on, I’m only going to work with myself, for myself and no one else! Turning director would be a beautiful culmination of the 30 years of my life.”
The film, which will be shot in Varanasi, Maheshwaram, Jhansi and Rajasthan, will release on April 27 next year.
