Last year, from India, Manushi Chhillar won the Miss World 2017 title. After 17 years, someone from India was honoured with the beauty pageant it was a moment of celebration for everyone. This year, Mexico's Vanessa Ponce De Leon was crowned as Miss World 2018 in Sanya, China. Manushi Chhillar passed on the baton to Vanessa as she crowned him as Miss World 2018.

Miss World's Instagram page shared the picture of Manushi crowning Vanessa and the caption is quite sweet. The caption reads, "Miss World | 2018. Our 68th Miss World is: Vanessa Ponce de Leon. As reported by Republic World, at the backstage, Vanessa Ponce De Leon said, "I just can’t believe it. People from Mexico and my friends have supported me. They deserve a great representative and I hope I can make them proud and do the most I can in the year in the time I have. I want to make my country proud. I love you Mexico."
