On the work front, Shahid is currently busy with Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
Shahid will play the role of a lawyer in the movie. The movie delves into the issue of highly priced electricity bills which has become a common problem for the citizens.
As the teaser of the movie released on Diwali, Singh had said, "The subject of the film is very relevant to our times. Diwali makes it just the right occasion for us to shed light on a subject that needs to be discussed. We look forward to making a film that is both commercially entertaining and encourages a social conversation."
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is slated to release on August 31, 2018.
Janhvi and Ishaan Khatter recently wrapped the first schedule of their debut film Dhadak in Rajasthan. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, it is a remake of Marathi film Sairat.
In an interview with a leading agency, Shashank had said, "The basic premise is of differences in caste, honour killing and what it means to survive in that world and I feel that is the conflict that is alive all across India, you will hear stories like that. So in that sense, the basic premise (of Dhadak and Sairat) is same. But there are variations. My story is based on another setup… It is (set) in Rajasthan. It comes with its own challenges, conflicts and style of a love story."
Dhadak, to be co-produced by Zee Studios and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, is set for July 6, 2018, release.
