PHOTOS: Shah Rukh Khan receives the prestigious Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum Meeting in Davos
Shah Rukh Khan has been bestowed with the Crystal Award by Hilde Schwab, Chairperson and Co-Founder of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos today.
Shah Rukh Khan has joined the ranks of Amitabh Bachchan, Mallika Sarabhai, Shabana Azmi after receiving the prestigious Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos today. Shah Rukh was presented with the award by Hilde Schwab, Chairperson and Co-Founder of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. The award honors artists from across the globe for their commitment to improving the state of the world.
Shah Rukh Khan was honored with this award for his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India. Shah Rukh Khan has been working with women who have been victims of acid attack through his NGO- Meer Foundation. His NGO works to provide justice to the victims. Meer Foundation’s mission is “to enable, enhance and encourage – empower women by making them feel appreciated and inspired, and to foster humility, pride and gallantry among the men in their lives.”









Shah Rukh Khan gave an inspiring speech as he accepted the award. He spoke about his work with the acid attack victims. He also congratulated Elton John and Cate Blanchett who have also been honored with the Crystal Award for their work in the fight against HIV/AIDS and raising awareness of the refugee crisis respectively.
Shah Rukh had earlier tweeted, “Thank u for this honour. I consider my work with these heroic & beautiful women a great privilege as it imparts dignity & purpose to my life. I hope to spread awareness of the unparalleled heroism of these ladies & reach out to others in order to carry this work to its conclusion.”
