On 27th May, Ajay Devgn’s father and action choreographer/director Veeru Devgan passed away. He was admitted to the Surya Hospital, Santa Cruz, on Monday as he was suffering from breathing problems. Unfortunately, his condition got critical and he died of cardiac arrest. The Devgan family released an official statement which read: “With profound Grief and sorrow, We regret to inform that Mr.Veeru Devgan, Veteran Action Master and Father of Actor Ajay Devgn passed away this Morning.”
Veeru Devgan was the action master of our Hindi film industry. He began his career in 1974 and went on to choreograph action scenes for over 80 films including Mr India, Phool Aur Kaante, Shahenshah, Ram Teri Ganga Maili and Himmatwala. In 1999, the legend ventured into direction. He directed the Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Manisha Koirala and Sushmita Sen starrer Hindustan Ki Kasam. He also produced films Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999), Dil Kya Kare (1999) and Singhasan (1986).
The family held a prayer meet for Veeru Devgan at Mandapam Hall, ISKCON temple in Juhu today. Among other Bollywood celebrities, Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Atul Agnihotri arrived at the ceremony to pay their respect. Salman Khan and Atul Agnihotri are dressed in white, while Salman’s brother Sohail Khan is wearing a grey t shirt, blue jeans and a black beanie.
