Ranveer Singh was clicked outside director Zoya Akthar's office. The actor looked handsome as he was all dressed in black. He met the director for a meeting related to Gully Boys.
This will be Singh's second film with the director after Dil Dhadakne Do (2015).
Gully Boys also stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role. Gullys Boys is inspired by the lives of two rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy.
When Vivian was asked about it, he stated, "In 2016, I was performing at a (now defunct) club in Lower Parel. Zoya was in the audience and after the show, we spoke about Mumbai's burgeoning hip-hop culture. She had heard my work online and took my number. She then visited my house and told me that she wanted to make a film on Mumbai's street rappers. Our conversation mainly revolved around my inspirations and ambitions."
He even revealed that Zoya and the co-writer of the film Reema Kagti visited their gully in the city, where they shot their hit song Mere Gully Mein. Little did they know, soon Ranveer will play the leading man in the film based on them.
Talking about Ranveer, Divine said, "He's a cool guy and already dresses like a rapper so he needs no tips in the fashion department from me. It is one thing to get audiences to wake up and listen to our kind of music, which is not about girls, gold and drugs but about real life in Mumbai. But it is an even greater thing when mainstream actors like Ranveer chose to be a GullyBoy. He's now a part of our movement."
Currently, Ranveer's upcoming film Padmavati's release date has been postponed. Director by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also stars Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
