Meanwhile, staying away from the controversies of Padmavati (directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also starring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor), Ranveer Singh's undivided attention is now focused on Gully Boys. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the movie will see the first collaboration between Singh and Alia Bhatt.
Ranveer and Alia will start shooting for Gully Boys from January 2018.
Gully Boys is inspired by the lives of two rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy. Talking about Ranveer, Divine had said, "He's a cool guy and already dresses like a rapper so he needs no tips in the fashion department from me. It is one thing to get audiences to wake up and listen to our kind of music, which is not about girls, gold, and drugs but about real life in Mumbai. But it is an even greater thing when mainstream actors like Ranveer chose to be a Gully Boy. He's now a part of our movement."
Currently, Sonakshi is riding high on the success of her latest film Ittefaq. The suspense thriller also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna in the lead and has impressed the audience as well as the critics. The film is directed by debutant Abhay Chopra and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, DharmaProductions and B.R. Films.
The talented actor will next be seen in Happy Bhag Jayegi Returns. Talking about the film, she stated, "I am so happy playing a Punjabi girl in the film. You know my father is a Bihari and my mother is a Sindhi, but I am Punjabi in my head... So, playing a Punjabi on screen is so much fun."
