A prayer meet for legendary actor Shashi Kapoor was held at Prithvi Theatre today.

Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passed away on December 4, 2017. The legendary actor died in a hospital in the city due to prolonged illness. 

Today, a prayer meet for held at the Prithi Theatre in Mumbai for him. For the prayer meet, family members and friends from the film industry were clicked at the theatre.

Celebrities like Rani Mukerji, Suniel Shetty, Rakesh Roshan, Jeetendra, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu and others attended the chautha of the actor.

The Kapoors were inconsolable after his death during his last rites.

Shashi Kapoor was given a three-gun salute by the Mumbai police. He was also wrapped in tricolour for last rites.

His contribution to the Indian cinema is phenomenal and hence, his loss is a huge setback to the film industry.

In his career span of nearly four decades, Kapoor has acted in some amazing films. Shashi Kapoor has acted as a child actor in several Hindi films. The talented actor has acted in more than 110 films. 

He was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India, Dadasaheb Phalke Award and three National Film Awards.

Some of his best performances include films like Mehndi Lagi Mere Haath, Kabhi Kabhie, New Delhi Times, Roti Kapda Aur Makan, Heeralal Pannalal, Deewar,  Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Raja Saab, Pighalta Aasman and many others. 

Shashi Kapoor's late father and veteran actor Prithviraj Kapoor had founded Prithvi Theatres in 1942 which was a travelling troupe. Shashi ji had toured with the troupe and acted in Prithviraj Kapoor's plays.

Prithviraj Kapoor had the dream to have a permanent place for his theatre group and even acquired a property in Juhu. He could not fulfil it as he died in 1972. However, Shashi ji and his late wife Jennifer Kapoor saw to it that his father's wish would indeed come true and that is how the famous Prithvi theatre was born.
