Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were spotted outside Shashi Kapoor's residence.

Legendary Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor passed away in the city today. The phenomenal actor, who was 79, died due to a prolonged illness. He had gone through bypass surgery a few months back and had been admitted to the hospital due to chest infection.

Many stars were spotted at his residence as they came to pay final respects to the veteran actor. Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were also seen at his residence.

Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor have worked together in many super-hit films like Deewaar, Suhaag, Kabhie Kabhie, Trishul, Silsila and Namak Halaal.

Bachchan had earlier recalled the time Kapoor had supported him. He had said, "In Mumbai, Shashiji had always been a great support. "I would visit him on set when I was looking for a job, he already being an established star by then, and he would introduce me to all his directors."

In his career span of nearly four decades, Kapoor has acted in some great films. He has acted in more than 110 films. 

Some of his best performances include films like Mehndi Lagi Mere Haath, Kabhi Kabhie, New Delhi Times, Roti Kapda Aur Makan, Heeralal Pannalal, Deewar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Raja Saab, Pighalta Aasman and many others. He has also acted in several English films such as The Householder, Bombay Talkie, Heat and Dust and many others. Kapoor was India's first actor to go international and work in English movies.
 
Shashi Kapoor was a star during his time. He romanced many beautiful actresses on
screen such as Nanda, Raakhee, Sharmila Tagore, Zeenat Aman, Hema Malini, Parveen Babi and many others.
 
The actor married English actress Jennifer Kendal in 1958 and had three children Kunal Kapoor, Karan 
Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor. Jennifer died in 1984 apparently due to cancer.
 
Shashi Kapoor's late father and veteran actor Prithviraj Kapoor had founded Prithvi Theatres in 1942 which was 
a travelling troupe. Shashi ji had toured with the troupe and acted in Prithviraj Kapoor's plays.
