PHOTO: Ranveer Singh's resemblance to Hollywood bad guys Heath Ledger and Malcolm McDowell is uncanny
Ranveer Singh plays the character of Alauddin Khilji in Padmavati.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati has been in news ever since it has been announced. It's Ranveer Singh's character as Alauddin Khilji which has intrigued many of his fans. Without any single dialogue in the trailer, Ranveer managed to impress all the movie buffs. Well, to say, he is the dark horse of Padmavati and all eyes are set on his character and how will he pull off such a menancing Alauddin.
Today, he took to Instagram and shared a collage wherein you can also see Heath Ledger and Malcolm McDowell. Who doesn't remember the characters of Heath in The Dark Knight and McDowell in the film A Clockwork Orange. But, after he posted this image, Instagram users thrashed the actor for comparing himself to TWO Hollywood legends.
One of the users wrote, "You're comparing yourself with McDowell and Heath Ledger You're not even 1% of them brother. Act like a Mature!." But, there were some fans who actually understood why did Ranveer put such a picture as it was just to portray how evil the character of Alauddin Khilji is. "Whats wrong with you guys...who the fuck is heath ledger...it was the character ‘joker’ that made him and btw this image is not showing that he is comparing himself...he just wants to portray how evil his character his," a user commented on the picture.
Speaking about his role in Padmavati, Ranveer earlier told a publication, "It was a very difficult character to play. I am a people pleaser, admittedly. I like to spread cheer and laughter. I like to keep the atmosphere light – even if it means making stupid jokes and acting silly and crass. But, when I became Alauddin Khilji for the movie, there’s no trace of that person. Some actors are that way, where the external starts to affect the internal. At some point during filming, everybody realized that at one point in the morning you’ll have Ranveer and the rest of the day will be Khilji. My whole energy changed. Which is good, because at least I know I’m doing an honest job in the film. But, yeah, I’m almost done now and I have to say what I told myself holds true to some extent. All the darkness has been lived out, it’s been addressed. It’s almost like therapy."
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions, Padmavati is slated to release on December 1, 2017.
