Talking about the movie, John had earlier stated to a leading tabloid, "I have never been in a hurry to produce films and have been searching for subjects that are engaging... stories that resonate with the current socio-political and economic mood of the country. This film fits in perfectly with my pursuit, and I am also happy to start my association with Prernaa and Arjun."

Diana told a leading daily, "I've always wanted to be a part of stories that are compelling. The events at Pokhran were historic for India and changed the way the world perceived us. I'm fortunate to be in the team that will recreate that piece of history on screen. Both production houses are known for the variety of their content. Also, it's an exciting time to be part of the film fraternity because there are incredible stories waiting to be told."

On the other hand, the director of the film, Abhishek Sharma said, "I'm glad to collaborate with John. His involvement as an actor and producer adds great value and credibility to my vision."

John is also producing the film under his home productions JA Entertainment together with Zee Studios, KriArj Entertainment, and Kyta Productions. Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is slated to release on December 8, 2017.
