This year the award is significant on the red carpet as Hollywood's biggest stars opted to wear black coloured attire. And why is this? In support of the Time's Up movement.
For the uninitiated, the Time's Up movement was in response to the recent Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal which led to the ousting of many celebrities like Kevin Spacey and Jeffrey Tambor as well as the Me Too campaign which took the world by storm. The movement was founded by 300 women from the entertainment world which include names like Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington to fight harassment and abuse in the workplace.

Meryl wore an off-the-shoulder black custom Vera Wang gown which she teamed it up with her signature specs. Whereas Nicole stunned in a dramatic black lace gown.
Last year's Golden Globe winner Viola Davis looked gorgeous in a black gown with a trail and she rounded her look with a layered necklace.
