Deepika’s film Padmavati has been embroiled in controversies and the film that was earlier scheduled to release on 1^st December, 2017 has now been ‘voluntarily deferred’ by the makers.

Deepika has been threatened with physical harm. About the protests, Deepika said in an interview with a leading daily, “As a woman, as an artiste, as someone who has worked and given two years of my life to this movie, I feel hurt, I feel angry, but I also think it is extremely funny that people are reacting like this to a film. I am feeling so many emotions at this point."

She added, “There is a fraction out there who is doing what it is. But as I said at the start, I have faith in our judicial system.” 

Deepika and her parents have been given special police protection. The film also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
