PHOTOS: Deepika Padukone and sister Anisha Padukone address a mental health seminar in the capital city

Deepika Padukone is one of the few celebrities who has come out and openly talked about mental wellness. She admitted to having undergone depression and spoke about the challenges she faced. She has also started a foundation to help and support people suffering from mental illness. Deepika has been championing the cause across the country. She also visited several schools and talked to students about the importance of mental health.

At an event today, in the capital city, her foundation presented a mental health survey from across the country. Deepika’s sister, Anisha Padukone who is the director of the foundation also arrived with Deepika.

Deepika and Anisha both addressed the audience and spoke about the importance of awareness of depression. Deepika and Anisha, both, opted for a semi-formal look and looked pretty with minimal make-up.

At the event, Deepika said about depression, “I will admit that it was hard for me to get out of bed and get to work everyday. But, I think if you have the right set of support system, for me, speaking about it made it easier. I suddenly felt that I wasn't hiding anything from anybody whether it was my parents, my sister, people at work and my counselors. I created a group around me of people who understood me. It had moments of vulnerability, but I didn't feel that I had no one to share my breaking down moments. I had people around.”
