Cannes 2018: Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Manto screened at the prestigious film festival; check photos
Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Manto was screened at the Cannes Film Festival. Filmmaker Nandita Das and actor Rasika Duggal were also present for the same.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Manto was screened at the 71st Cannes Film Festival today. The film also stars Rasika Duggal in the lead role and is directed by Nandita Das. The teaser for the film was launched on Saturday.
Actor Rasika Duggal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui took to their Instagram pages to share pictures from the French Riviera and from the screening of Manto at Cannes Film Fesitval.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui wrote, "Here I am, getting dressed to impress. This time, Manto & not Nawazuddin Siddiqui will visit the Cannes Film Festival. This time, you’ll see Cannes through the eyes of Manto. Stay tuned! #CannesWithManto #Manto #Cannes2018 @magiciffilms @MantoFilm".

Meanwhile, as reported by PTI, at the trailer launch, filmmaker Nandita Das said, "The idea is to tell a story for audience. We are not putting ‘Manto’ on a pedestal. He was somebody who used to speak the truth despite all challenges he faced. For youth, it is extremely inspirational to see someone like him. I think it’s a film where the audience will be able to take home something and everyone will relate with his personality."
Earlier in an interview with Indian Express, Nawaz said, "Manto is as relevant today as he was during his time. Like, I will narrate you his speech, which he had given in Jogeshwari (in Mumbai). We have used it as it is."
