Akshay Kumar hosts a special screening of PadMan for I&B Minister Smriti Irani, view PICS

Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film PadMan has created the right buzz around it. Twinkle Khanna and the film’s cast has been on a promotional spree.

Today, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna hosted a special screening of his film, PadMan for Information & Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani in Delhi. Radhika Apte, Arunachalam Muruganathan and R.Balki were also present at the screening.

Akshay looked dapper in a printed tee and denim. Twinkle Khanna and Radhika Apte kept it classy and chic.

A source had earlier revealed to a leading daily, “Akshay met up with the PM yesterday. Today's screening has been arranged for a specific reason. After the screening, Akshay will stress on how the film's message needs to reach the larger population and will pitch the idea of making educational videos for Doordarshan.”

If the project is approved by the Prime Minister and Smriti Irani, the team will make videos of 2 minutes each. R. Balki will direct videos aimed to encourage women to use sanitary napkins.

“Citing studies which prove that girls in villages drop out of school when they hit puberty, they will bat for napkins to be made available free of cost or at subsidised rates,” the source revealed.

In an earlier interview, Akshay had said, “Women are going for tax free sanitary, but I say it should be completely free. Cut the five percent money from defence, make one bomb less and give it to women to get the sanitary napkin.”
