The Accidental Prime Minister: Anupam Kher aces the first look as Manmohan Singh

The shooting for the political drama The Accidental Prime Minister, based on the book by Sanjaya Baru, has begun in London. The film will see Anupam Kher playing the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Anupam Kher has shared the first few images from his upcoming movie, The Accidental Prime Minister. The actor will be seen playing the role of former prime minister, Dr Manmohan Singh.  

Anupam captioned the images on Twitter as, "Happy to share my first look of #DrManmohanSingh, India’s Former Prime Minister from the movie #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister directed by #VijayRatnakarGutte & produced by #BohraBrothers. Creative producer is @mehtahansal. Film is based on #SanjayBaru’s book with the same title." 

In a statement, Kher said, "The opportunity of portraying a contemporary personality like Dr Manmohan Singh in 'The Accidental Prime Minister' is an immense challenge for me as an actor. He is part of a 24/7 media era where the world knows his persona minutely."

"I have been internalising this character for the past few months. I look forward to translating that effort into cinematic reality," added the actor. 

The movie is directed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, along with Hansal Mehta as the creative producer and also features Akshaye Khanna as Baru. Akshaye’s look in the film was revealed in March. He plays former media advisor to Manmohan Singh, Sanjay Baru, on whose memoir the film is based.

The script OF the film, produced by Bohra Bros, is written by Mayank Tewari. It is slated to release on December 21.
