Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna were spotted post a lunch date in the city today. The lovely couple was papped after a very long time as they were not in the city for almost a month.

Akshay looked handsome as ever in a checkered shirt and pants, whereas Twinkle wore a maroon silky shirt with white polka dots and a pair of blue jeans. Akshay escorted Twinkle by holding her hand on their way towards the car.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film also stars Bhumi Pednekar opposite Kumar and is slated to release on August 11, 2017.

Apart from that, Akshay will be seen in PadMan directed by R. Balki alongside Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. The film marks Twinkle's debut as a producer under her home banner Mrs. Funnybones Productions.

While talking to a leading daily, Akshay was asked if he deliberately chose to do socially conscious films. Responding to it, he said, "We are trying to address issues in films, with a dash of comedy, romance and action. My next film is Padman, which is based on sanitary napkins. More than 90 percent of Indian women can’t even afford them. It’s an issue not really talked about.”

When asked if his film Padman will cover the controversy around GST being levied on sanitary pads, Akshay jokingly said, “Do you want me to do a documentary or a commercial film? The film is about that issue, but it’s fictionalized and commercialized to appeal to all audiences.”
