Bollywood stars are seen gearing up for the IIFA Rocks event in New York City.
Almost all of Bollywood is in New York City and prepping for the IIFA Rocks event tonight. Host Riteish Deshmukh is seen rehearsing for his big act. The star took to Instagram to share a picture of himself near the IIFA Rocks stage at the MetLife stadium saying, "The Host ...#iifarocks"
The IIFA Rocks night will be a musical gala at the MetLife Stadium, featuring the Oscar winning composer Rahman performing live to celebrate his 25th anniversary in filmdom. "We have a great orchestra from New York, and our own band... I think it's going to be special," said Rahman. Apart from him, Diljit and Kamaal Khan will also dazzle at the musical extravaganza.
The final day will culminate with the awards ceremony, where a plethora of Bollywood stars -- and hopefully some Hollywood ones too -- will rock the green carpet and the stage thereafter.
Awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2010, Rahman is a two-time Academy Award winner whose works have also been celebrated with two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and 15 Filmfare Awards South.
Given that he has worked in multiple international films, he has his own fan following in the US.
He is also set to begin his "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" tour which too marks 25 years of his journey in the music industry. It starts on July 8 at Wembley in London.
The music maestro's journey from the hit song "Roja" to "Kaatru Veliyidai" will be celebrated at the tour.
Earlier, Rahman had described his journey as "memorable and magical".
What makes IIFA different this year is that it will be aired live. "Like we wake up for the and Grammy, this year, we can wake up for the IIFA Awards," said Sabbas Joseph, Director, Wizraft International Entertainment.
Also seen here are Alia Bhatt and Aditi Rao Hydari, who are gearing up for the big night.
