Kiran Rao on Fatima featuring in Thugs of Hindostan: There has to be merit
Kiran Rao just revealed the reason behind Fatima Sana Shaikh being selected for Thugs of Hindostan.
We know that Aamir Khan's protegee and reel-life daughter Fatima Sana Shaikh will be featuring opposite him in the much hyped movie Thugs of Hindostan. The movie, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif, is in the news for its stellar starcast. However, when the plum role landed in Fatima's kitty, eyebrows were raised and there were speculations made if Aamir was behind this 'favor'.
Fatima had however commented on it saying, "I have been Aamir sir’s intern for almost a year now. I have worked with him and he isn’t that kind of a person. He is a director’s actor. Also, in a film, a director has the last word on everything. Whatever people may say, Victor sir has chosen me. I have been selected after many auditions, and after putting in all the hard-work. Not because of somebody else. Log toh boltein hain kuch na kuch, unko bolne do (people will talk, so let them) (laughs)."
Amidst all this, rumour is rife that mentor Aamir Khan and Fatima are getting too close for comfort. However, Aamir's wife Kiran Rao commented on the whole situation and cleared the air once and for all. She said about Fatima being chosen for the film, "We don’t deal with casting. Aamir, Adi and Victor decided the casting so they must have given it a good thought because it’s a big film. There has to be merit or else they wouldn’t take risk with such a big film."
Now, that makes sense, doesn't it?
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor), Thugs of Hindostan is slated to release in Diwali 2018. Aamir has unveiled his look from the film and is flaunting it at the several events he attended.
