If you have been following Bollywood or were a 90's kid (just like me), you will be aware of Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's (now Bachchan) love affair. It has been more than a decade that the two parted ways, but still, fans want to read what exactly happened between the two and browse through their old pictures when they were together.

The love story is dated back to the time when they were shooting for the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Their crackling chemistry was the backbone of the film and fans couldn't stop gushing about the fact that the two are seeing each other. On the other hand, gossip columns couldn't stop but churn stories. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the only person to have made a film with Salman and Aishwarya together till date. The 1999 film is still talked about when we think of them together.

However, things started going awry when Aishwarya's parent disapproved of their relationship and she refused to stand by Salman and rather chose her parents. In 2001, Salman reportedly created a huge scene outside Aishwarya's house and even admitted the fact that the two were in a relationship. In an interview, Salman clarified himself saying, "If you won't fight that means there is no love between you, I will not fight with an outsider, when we fight, it is all because of our love."

Well, there came a point when everything between the two completely went down the hill. They broke up in 2012. In an interview, Aishwarya said, “The Salman Khan chapter was a nightmare in my life and I am thankful to god that it is over.” She also opened up on her relationship saying, "After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked up with everyone, from Abhishek Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”

Salman even reportedly created a scene on the set of Chalte-Chalte because Shah Rukh Khan was producing the film and she was playing the lead. After that ruckus, Ash lost out on the movie and things were back as they were with Salman. Not even cordial terms! The two have moved on in their lives, but haven't been able to bury the hatchet till date.

Will they ever let their bygones be bygones? Answering this question might be a little difficult. Meanwhile, let's go back in time and take a look at their pictures which still makes us wish they were a couple.
