In pics! Begum Vidya Balan and her girls have a blast in the capital city

Vidya Balan is seen here promoting her movie Begum Jaan in the capital city. Vidya is accompanied by her lovely co-stars Gauahar Khan and Pallavi Sharda. 

The film sees Vidya play a brothel owner in a story of survival set against the backdrop of the country's Partition in 1947. It is a Hindi adaptation of National Award winner Srijit Mukherji's critically-acclaimed Bengali outing Rajkahini.

Vidya has sported outfits by designer Rick Roy in the movie. The designer had mentioned,  "Vidya had 40 changes (outfits) for the film. None of the clothes she wore were ironed. It was her idea to dip wash the clothes and skip the ironing part. This ensured her clothes looked worn and added to the authenticity. Nobody's clothes were ironed in the film."

The film is written and directed by National Film Award-winning director Srijit Mukherji and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment.

Dispelling rumours of any bad blood between them, Bengali cine star and National Award winner Rituparna Sengupta, who essayed Begum Jaan in Srijit Mukherji's Rajkahini, met and even posed sportingly with her Bollywood counterpart Vidya Balan who portrays the same role in the eponymous Hindi adaptation Begum Jaan.
