In pics! Vidya Balan promotes Begum Jaan in Kolkata

Vidya Balan is seen here promoting her soon to be released movie Begum Jaan in Kolkata. The power house actress looked lovely in a traditional saree and gold jewellery. 

Begum Jaan is an adaptation of Bengali film Rajkahini. The movie also features Gauahar Khan, Ila Arun, Pallavi Sharda, Chunky Pandey, Flora Saini, Raviza Chauhan, Poonam Rajput and Naseeruddin Shah.

Scheduled to release on April 14, it is directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Vishesh Films and Play Entertainment.

Vidya had said about the movie, "Every time I make an attempt to present new and unusual stories for the audience. And when this film came to me, I was so excited that I thought to start shooting for the film on that day itself. The character and dialogues of 'Begum Jaan' are so strong and with so much of attitude that I just couldn't stop myself from doing this film."

Vidya had commented about the kind of anger she shows in the film. She said, "I wanted to unleash that part of me and all it took was a conversation with Bhatt saab on a flight. We were promoting ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani' so, I told him that I wanted to give an expression to my anger, I have a lot of anger."

The actress added: "The long and short of it is that he came to me with ‘Begum Jaan'...But to actually give vent to that kind of anger, aggression, wasn't easy. But it was fun, once you break the limits, it was a lot of fun. It's so freeing. Siddharth believes that I do have a violent streak."
