After the tragic demise of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father Krishnaraj Rai today, his last rites were performed at Ville Parle Seva Sansthan Shamshan Bhoomi in Mumbai. Spotted here are Aishwarya, Abhishek and Amitabh as they head to the crematorium.

Mr. Rai who has been keeping critical for some time now passed away today at around 4 pm at the Lilavati Hospital. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the suburban hospital and was suffering from a cancer relapse.

The doctors, however, later revealed that he was undergoing treatment for Lymphoma Cancer, the condition which had reached to his brain.

Owing to his unstable condition he has been on a ventilator from March 10 on. Confirming the same a family member had told us, “Yes, Aishwarya's dad is in a critical condition and is on the ventilator now. Close family members from all over have rushed to Mumbai to be with the family in these difficult times. We are praying for the best."

Earlier too in January, Mr. Rai had faced a serious health issue and was admitted to the hospital. Aish and Abhi who were on a vacay that time had to rush back upon hearing the news.

The 43-year-old actress has been going through a lot of stress of late. Speaking of which a source had informed us, “Aishwarya is heartbroken. She has been managing her entire schedule and is making sure that she is present by her father's side throughout.”

Krishnaraj Rai is survived by his wife Vrinda, son Aditya Rai, daughter-in-law Shrima Rai, daughter Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and son-in-law Abhishek Bachchan.
