Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor, the biopic will see Manisha Koirala playing the role of Nargis Dutt. That’s right!
After battling cancer, Manisha’s first film was Chehre, which didn’t perform at the box office, but now, she will make her comeback with Rajkumar Hirani’s movie. In an interview to a leading daily, the actress said, “To play her is a great honor. She is a legendary figure, no matter how forward we go, or whatever, her name would always be remembered, she would always be tagged as a legendary actor. She is a historical figure of the Bollywood industry. People remember her for films.”
As a matter of fact, Manisha Koirala agrees that she would revisit her own life and her battle with cancer through Nargis’ character. The actress said, “He (Rajkumar Hirani) said I would be able to understand Nargis’ character more than anyone else. And that is true because I have been in the phase. Yes, I will be revisiting my past but my focus is going to be on doing my best in the film.”
Sanjay Dutt’s mother, Nargis Dutt, died due to cancer a few days before the release of Sanjay Dutt’s debut film Rocky (1981).
