After the relatively disappointing performance of Kahaani 2 at the box office, Vidya Balan is all set to take the silver screen by storm in her next female-centric project, Begum Jaan.
With the makers having dropped its first poster on Tuesday, the 38-year-old actress has already kick-started the promotions.
Donning a Megha and Jigar red-black outfit, Vidya looked beautiful as she stepped out for the promotions today.
Light curls and a smokey eye makeup completed the actress’ look for the day.
Meanwhile, Begum Jaan aka Vidya’s first look in the flick has got us raving. Sporting a maroon ghagra and an embroidered blouse, Vidya certainly fascinates with this new avatar of hers.
A Hindi adaptation of Srijit Mukherji’s Rajkahini, the film portrays her as the madam of the brothel.Set amidst the turmoil of partition; the flick is co-produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment.
Helmed by Mukherji himself, the movie also stars Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Chunky Pandey, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajit Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vivek Mushran, Poonam Singh Rajput, Ridheema Tiwari, Flora Saini, Priyanka Setia, Mishti Chakraborty, Sumit Nijhawan, Pitobash and Rajesh Sharm, Begum Jaan is slated for an April 14 release.
Earlier, speaking about Vidya being Mukherji’s first choice for the role he had said, “There’s something about Vidya’s face, voice and body language. Frankly, if you think of such powerful roles, you can only think of Vidya or Rani Mukherji. Vidya was my first choice. I can’t think of other actors who can pull off this character.”
