Amitabh Bachchan today honoured Pt. Birju Maharaj at the 17th Vasantotsav in Mumbai.
Amitabh Bachchan today felicitated the leading Kathak exponent Pt. Birju Maharaj at the 17th edition of Vasantotsav in the city. The 74-year-old presented the Uttam Vag Geykar Award in the ceremony that was attended by the likes of music maestros Ustad Rashid Khan and Ustad Zakir Hussain among others.
Big B in a white kurta-pyjama and a Nehru jacket looked pleasant as he honoured the Padma Vibhushan classical dancer at Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai.
A tribute to Acharya Jialal Vasant, the founder of Ajivasan, Vasantotsav, is a celebration of music and culture. More like a tradition Acharya Jialal Vasant Sangeet Niketan felicitates a distinguished artiste with Uttam Vag-Geykar Jialal Vasant Award annually. The award was instituted in 2001 in memory of Acharya Jialal Vasant who was an Uttam Vag-Geykar i.e. skillful in vocal, instrumental music and dance himself.
Meanwhile, as a matter of huge pride Big B’s Pink on February 25 was screened at the auditorium to the honourable President Mr.Pranab Mukherjee. The entire cast including Taapsee, Andrea, Angad Bedi, director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and producer Shoojit Sircar were present at the event.
The Pink squad was also felicitated after the special screening by the President himself.
Talking about his upcoming big screen projects, he will be next seen in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 3. Boasting of an ensemble of cast, the political drama also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Yami Gautam, and Jackie Shroff.
Co-produced by Allumbra Entertainment, Wave Cinemas and AB Corp, the third movie in the Sarkar series will hit the silver screen on April 7.
