This old magazine cover of Saif and Amrita will take you back to the most controversial love story of 91!

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's love story came with its own imperfections. The couple had their own ups and downs, but remained with each other for thirteen years until their divorce in 2004. Their marriage became the hot topic of discussion for the gossipmongers. Today, we came across an old magazine cover which features Saif and Amrita and the tagline was 'Most Controversial Story of 91'. Indeed it was!

Imagine a 21-year-old Saif married a much older Amrita! This was bound to make headlines and the whole industry was in a way shocked. Their love story was indeed ahead of its time. When Saif's mother Sharmila and dad Mansoor were against the whole concept, Saif and Amrits secretly married each other in October 1991. 

In 1999, their candid interview with Simi Garewal gave us the much-needed insight. Amrita confessed, "I could never imagine myself being married to a man younger than me. Saif was the only person who I had met in my life who was patient with me. That meant a lot to me."

And Saif in response said, "I strongly felt that you don’t meet people very often who on every chemical level do something right for you. I don’t think I am going to find this again, so I might as well hang on to it."

But, things did start changing between the two. Saif's affair with an Italian dancer, Rosa was the final nail in the coffin. Saif and Amrita's relationship, then, went downhill. After their divorce, Amrita who had left her career for Saif came back to acting. 

Now the two have completely moved on! Saif is now happily married to Kareena Kapoor Khan and has been in news for recently becoming a father to a baby boy, Taimur.
