In Pics: Sonam, Fawad and Kapoor & Sons win big at IFFM 2016
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2016 commenced from August 11 and will continue till August 21. This happens to be the fifth year of the prestigious award show and this time it has 'Women Empowerment' as the central theme. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan received top honours at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2016.
The Kapoor & Sons actor added another feather to his hat as he won the diversity award for his contribution to Indian and Pakistani Cinema. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor was felicitated with the Indian Melbourne Film Festival Excellence in Cinema Award. While Sonam won the Best Actress award for her film Neerja, Nawazuddin bagged it for his performance in Raman Raghav 2.0. Interestingly, both the films were also screened at the festival.
Radhika Apte's film Parched, which is a story about women set in the heart of parched rural landscape of Gujarat, won for the best Indie Film. Kapoor & Sons won the Best Film award and Dharma Productions tweeted, "Super stoked to announce that #Kapoorandsons won the BEST FILM award at the IFFM 2016 @shakunbatra @karanjohar."
Apart from the winners, B-Town celebs like Malaika Arora Khan, Anurag Kashyap, Neetu Kapoor, Rituparna Sengupta and Richa Chadda were also in attendance.
