Celebrating the theme of ‘women empowerment’, the fifth edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2016 kicked off with the screening of Leena Yadav’s drama Parched as its opening film. The festival, dubbed as the largest Indian film festival of the southern hemisphere, will screen over 50 films in 17 languages from India and the subcontinent over the next 12 days.
The festival kickstarted with much fanfare amidst a grand opening ceremony attended by the who's who of Bollywood including Sonam Kapoor, Richa Chadda, Fawad Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte and Shakun Batra etc.
Sonam's Neerja, Nawaz's Raman Raghav 2.0 & Fawad's Kapoor & Sons will also be screened at the festival.
