Sad! Bollywood to Lose Rajesh Khanna's 'Aashirwad' Forever
In what can only be described as a heartbreaking development--the iconic Vardan Aashirwad, which was once the bungalow of yesteryear superstar Rajesh Khanna—will soon be a thing of the past. According to reports, the sea-facing bungalow’s current owner and noted businessman Shashi Kiran Shetty has decided to demolish it. Aashirwad will be replaced by a new building.
"The structure was almost 50 years old. We plan to have a new bungalow over there. Currently, it is a very rough plan but we have submitted it to the BMC.", said Shetty.
For the uninitiated, Shetty had purchased the bungalow from the Amar Prem actor nearly two years ago. Interestingly, Khanna himself had brought it from actor Rajendra Kumar almost 45 years back. As it so happens, shortly after Kaka’s death in 2012 the house passed to his daughters Twinkle and Rinkie despite opposition from his partner Anita.
