In a rather exciting development, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan served as the guest of honour at the Heart of Gold show, which was held recently to raise money for the Chennai flood victims.  Organised by a noted trust, the show proved to be an absolute delight for those who are fond of India’s glorious past. At the event, several actresses and artistes from Chennai sported looks reminiscent to the ones worn by the subjects of Raja Ravi Verma’s paintings.

Needless to say, all the performers concerned carried off the looks with effortless grace and brought to life some characters which are an inseparable part of India history. Interestingly, these looks were recreated under the careful supervision of noted designer Neeta Lulla.

As far as Big B is concerned, this event helped him re-ignite his tryst with South India. During his illustrious career, he has collaborated with Southern filmmakers such as Ramanthan and T Rama Rao on a few occasions. His most noted film with Rao was Andhaa Kanoon. Similarly, he played the lead role in Ramanathan’s  Mahaan. Moreover, some years ago, he had played a supporting role in the Malayalam movie Kandahar.
