IIFA Utsavam 2016: Popular Southern Stars on Red Carpet
Recently, the first edition of the IIFA Utsavam kicked off with a bang in Hyderabad at the Gachibowli stadium on January 24. Honouring the South film industries, the award function is spread over two days. On Sunday, it was the Tamil and Malayalam film industries that were recognised for their tremendous work. The event is a new initiative by IIFA to recognise talents from southern film industries.
The awards for Tamil and Malayalam films were given at the first day of the event. Among all the Tamil films released in 2015, Baahubaliand Thani Oruvan bagged maximum awards. SS Rajamouli's magnum opus won seven awards at the function under various categories- Best Film (Tamil), Best Supporting Actor Male, Best Supporting Actor Female, Best Playback Singer Male and Best Playback Singer Female, Best Directo (Tamil) and for Best Production Designer. Thani Oruvan, the blockbuster of 2015, bagged awards at the event. Jayam Ravi won the Best Actor Award (male) and Arvind Swamy won Best Villain award for his role Siddharth Abimanyu n the film.
Spotted on the red carpet were stars as Kamal Hassan, Tamannaah, Shriya Saran, Rakul Preet, Tapsee Pannu, Siddharth, Rana Dagubatti and Prakash Raj among others.
