Irrfan Khan's 'TALVAR' gets a great response at TIFF
Irrfan Khan, Meghna Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj are seen here at the premiere of their film 'Talvar' at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The movie, which is based on the Aarushi Talwar murder case, was much appreciated at TIFF. It got a rousing response at the screening and also had a crazy lineup of eager cinema lovers.
The movie is also garnering a great response from international critics. Director Meghna Gulzar said at the after party, "They laughed at the right places and cringed at the right places. If it just unfurls the questions that are probably lying buried somewhere at the back of the mind, for me that will be a victory for the film."
Meghna, the daughter of renowned lyricist Gulzar and yesteryear actress Rakhee, has for the first time attempted a crime flick that is based on the Aarushi Talwar murder case. Meghna, who is known for her films like "Filhaal" and "Just Married", said that it was a complete detour for her to attempt a movie like "Talvar".
Actually, Vishal ji and I have been very closely associated. When I was beginning to wonder what to do next, I had a conversation with Vishalji, who is like family. Several ideas came up and this was one of them," she said. Meghna also said that she and Vishal Bhardwaj researched the case for almost two whole years before "Talvar" went on the floors.
It is slated to release on October 2, which is also the birth anniversary of Gandhiji. The film stars Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Neeraj Kabi and Sohum Shah in leading roles and Tabu in a guest appearance.
