The Penthouse S2 Ep 7 & 8 RECAP: Cheon Seo Jin falls from grace as Joo Dante traps her in a criminal plan

The second season of The Penthouse S2 is nothing less than a thrilling roller-coaster ride. SBS' top-rated show, the series is filled with endless twists and turns, revenge and conniving trickery, every passing minute. In the last episode, we witnessed the tragic murder of Bae Rona and Shim Su Ryeon, coming back from the dead! Episode 7 and 8 explore the full potential of Joo Dante's criminal mindset and the lengths he can go to have what he wants, but is he really that smart? Let us find out.

Episode 7, begins with Bae Rona's funeral as Yoon Hee grieves her only daughter's death. Ha Yoon Chul, who has almost reached Bae Rona's funeral, drives back when Cheon Seo Jin calls him informing him that Ha Eun Byeol has gone berserk! Ha Eun Byeol, who has gone crazy post Bae Rona's death, imagines her apparition around her all the time, a la Lady Macbeth. Meanwhile, Logan Lee stops Yoon Hee from killing herself and tells her to avenge Rona's death instead. He also tells her that Ha Eun Byeol and Ha Yoon Chul have a hand in Rona's death. 

Cheon Seo Jin and Ha Yoon Chul use an experimental drug to help Eun Byeol forget everything. The side effects are well, amnesia! Seo Jin and Yoon Chul are distressed as Seo jin tries to rekindle the romance between them. Yoon Chul, however, pushes her advances away. Yoon Hee, who is boiling in anger, having discovered Ha Yoon Chul's involvement in Bae Rona's performance recital is about to murder Yoon Chul and Seo Jin when Logan Lee takes her elsewhere.

We meet Shim Su Ryeon's twin aka Na Ae Gyo! She is also Joo Seok Hoon and Joo Seok Kyung's real mother but has no real affection for her kids. We discover that Joo Dante and Na Ae Gyo have a criminal pact to trick Cheon Seo Jin into giving her share of wealth and then dumping her to have all the money for themselves. 

Yoon Hee wakes up to find that she is with Logan Lee and Ha Eun Byeol's house help, who is also Logan Lee's assistant. Logan Lee convinces her to follow Na Ae Gyo, Logan believes she could be the catalyst that changes the tide of this war. Seok Hoon is suspicious of Ha Eun Byeol and to make her confess, he fakes his affection for her. Eun Byeol is surprised to see Seok Hoon showing a romantic inclination towards her. 

Suddenly news breaks online of Seo Jin’s ghost singer, leading to an investigation and public outrage. Seo-Jin is hopping mad, thinking that this is Yoon Hee’s doing, not aware of the actual truth. Yoon Hee and she meet in a theatre that day. The two ladies trade verbal blows at each other and Yoon Hee demands that Seo Jin must drop to her knees and beg for forgiveness. Surprisingly, Seo Jin agrees and apologises for stealing her Daesang years ago. 

At the back of this, Seo Jin holds a press conference and announces to everyone that she’s going to retire. Seok Hoon promises to himself that he going to destroy her. Meanwhile, Yoon Hee, who has now bought a piece of land in Hye In (Shim Su Ryeon)'s daughter's name schedules a meeting with Joo Dante.

Yoon Hee stealthily enters Joo Dante's secret study, as she follows the winding corridor and secret entrance down to the parking lot, she runs into Na Ae Gyo, who’s on her way to Joo Dante's penthouse.

In episode 8 we see Na Ae Gyo handing over a contract for Gangnam properties to Joo Dante. She quickly reminds him that everything is being split in half between them. Yoon Hee chases after Ae Gyo in a thrilling car chase sequence. The two women halt their cars and Yoon Hee manages to install a tracking device in Ae Gyo's phone. She immediately reports this information to Logan Lee.

Back Home, Yoon Chul informs Yoon Hee that he still has feelings for Cheon Seo Jin and files for divorce from Yoon Hee, leaving her all alone in this lonesome battle. Seo Jin is adamant about her position as the director of Cheong A foundation and comes to blows with her mother and sister on this. 

At school, Eun Byeol is bullied and ridiculed for being a fake Soprano's daughter. Yoo Je Ni and Seok Kyung confront her about Bae Rona's death and Eun Byeol faints with the pressure on her. When Eun Byeol wakes up, Seok Hoon is there. He has an obvious agenda though and wants her to remember everything so she can repent for what she’s done.

Seo Jin and Yoon Chul grow closer, with the former wanting to rekindle their romance. Seo Jin calls Dante informing him that she wants to break up with him, he informs her that she will regret this. Soon after, detectives show up at Seo Jin's house planning to arrest Eun Byeol for killing Bae Rona. Cheon Seo Jin is shocked and flabbergasted and confesses that she killed Bae Rona. This is just the confession Dan Tae needs, as he suddenly shows up and pays off the men around him. It turns out he’s recorded this entire confession, forcing Seo Jin into marrying him.

The wedding preparations begin with Dante forcing Seo Jin to try out various wedding gowns, much to her irritation. She tries to escape but he entraps her into his conniving plan. We cut back in time briefly to witness Dan Tae as the one who rang the fire alarm that night.

In the next sequence, we see, Na Ae Gyo and Joo Dante are enjoying some time together. Things do eventually blow up though, as Ae Gyo eventually reveals that she wants his fortune. Dan Tae holds a gun up to her head. They wrestle. Eventually, a gunshot pierces the air.

Dante feels hot blood oozing down his face, leading him to check his shaky hand. Once again Dante starts to lose control after seeing blood, prompting him to choke Ae Gyo with his bare hands. Thankfully, Logan arrives and knocks him out, taking Ae Gyo and scooping her up in the car to safety. There is a brief kiss between Ae Gyo and Logan Lee towards the end.
