The Penthouse is back bigger and stronger; Here's everything that happened in episode 1
Penthouse season 2 is back with more mystery and revenge to occupy our Friday and Saturday nights. Keep reading for our recap of episode 1.
The second season of 'Penthouse: War in Life' premiered at 10 pm KST on Friday, February 19. The first episode completely skips over a lot of the cliffhangers at the end of the previous season, leaving us with a lot of questions. But we hope we find answers to them as the story progresses.
Cheon Seo Jin and Joo Dan Tae are the focal point for much of this premiere as the pair continue to schmooze and grow closer together. There is an announcement of their upcoming engagement. While in New York, four months prior to the opening scene, Cheon Seo Jin meets Ha Yoon Cheol who happens to be there on business. They spend a night together and after she leaves, Ha Yoon Cheol gets beaten up and thrown into a water body by goons hired by Joo Dan Tae.
The reveal with Yang Mi Ok was pretty decent, although the way this all came about does not seem to be very consistent with her character. She did not display this level of obsession towards Joo Dan Tae in the first season. We also see Lee Logan and Oh Yoon Hee working together during this sequence. However, how that came to be is still unanswered.
We see Lee Kyu Jin as an assemblyman and a very corrupt one at that. He passed out while on a hunger strike and numerous officers rush him to a tent where there's a table full of food for his consumption.
Bae Ro Na has slipped further down the social ladder and is bullied by the students. She works part-time at a convenience store but is fired when her relationship with Oh Yoon Hee is revealed.
Despite all that though, Penthouse gets off to a good start. With Ha Yoon Cheol and 'his wife' Oh Yoon Hee quite literally crashing the engagement party, looking to cause trouble, it’ll be interesting to see where this one goes next.
Shin Su Ryeon’s death is still a big talking point. She’s listed on the credits for this season, so we're still unsure of what sort of role she will play going forward. At this point, the girl pushed/fallen down the stairs seems to either be Bae Ro Na or Ha Eun Byeol but that's pure speculation.
For now, there’s another murder ready to be solved and with plenty of makjang madness in between.
