The Penthouse actress, Choi Ye Bin’s agency withdraws legal action against netizen's false bullying allegation
The false bullying rumor surfaced a couple of days ago when a netizen uploaded a post; Agency confirms that the post was fabricated
Trouble came knocking The Penthouse’s door a few days ago when actress Choi Ye Bin, who plays Ha Eun Byul in the drama, got embroiled in a nasty bullying allegation. A netizen claiming to be the actress’ classmate put up a post alleging that she was “definitely tormenting” her “on purpose” and accused her of being a school bully.
The actress’ agency, J,Wide-Company released a statement On Monday denied the allegation and stated they will be taking legal actions. It is now confirmed by the agency that the post was fabricated and has been taken down. The agency has also said that it will not be pressing any charges to the netizen. According to Naver, the post targeting Choi Ye Bin was put up on a school community platform where the accuser said that she was harassed by the actress throughout middle school.
Once the allegations arose, the agency was quick on its feet to investigate the matter and released a statement saying,
“We also decided that we could not determine the precise truth based on the actress’s memories alone, so we checked with other people and acquaintances who were around [back then], but everyone confirmed that the truth was different from the content of the post.”
However, after the harmful post was deleted, the agency has decided to not take any legal action against her.
‘The Penthouse’ is gradually increasing in ratings and becoming a favourite Kdrama of fans around the world, thanks to its thrilling storyline. According to Nielsen Korea, last week the show scored average ratings of 18.8 percent – the show’s highest ratings yet! The show’s popularity seems to never stop and nor does our craze for it.
